Representing LA: Pictoral Currents in Southern California Art
By Gordon L. Fuglie
Designed by Cathy Blackburn
Edited by Richard V. West
This catalogue is published by the Frye Art Museum in association with the University of Washington Press in conjunction with its exhibition Representing LA (December 9, 2000–February 11, 2001). The works selected for this exhibition embody important currents in the resurgence of local representational work between 1990 and 2000.
The exhibition Representing LA features a collection of contemporary artwork and highlights the approach to the post-modern era by artists working in southern California. In the included essay, Gordon L. Fuglie seeks to quantify the means of exploration employed by these artists.
This publication includes an introduction by Richard V. West, text by Gordon L. Fuglie, imagery from the exhibition along with an exhibition checklist and a list of illustrations by artist.
