This volume was published by the Frye Art Museum in conjunction with its exhibition Pioneer Women Photographers: Myra Albert Wiggins, Adelaide Hanscom Leeson, Imogen Cunningham, Ella McBride (December 6, 2002–March 2, 2003).

This exhibition features the works of four early twentieth century female photographers who each lived in Seattle and helped define the direction of art photography during their distinguished careers. The Frye Art Museum presented this exhibition as part of its biennial program, Celebrating Women in the Arts, which examines the works and lives of these pioneer women photographers in the context of the Northwest.

This catalogue includes an Acknowledgements section, brief biographies on each of the artists, an exhibition checklist, and illustrations of the exhibition artwork.
