Full Spectrum Ceramics is the alias for ceramic artist Alex Maldonado, who found clay as an escape from some of their toils in the Spring of 2021. Originally from Texas and now based in Seattle, Alex is inspired by bold motifs of the past and present, and primarily working on the wheel, they create most of their functional pieces through layering of ceramic materials using different methods of clay marbling and physical resists to create patterns out of glaze that appear dynamic, abstract, and fun. Their goal is to create functional work that is exciting to observe in use, and exemplifies the best qualities of the many different materials used in functional ceramics.
