Floor to Ceiling is an engaging introduction to the Frye Art Museum’s collection that invites new discoveries among its nineteenth- and early twentieth-century paintings. 

Offering a playful look at the Frye’s Founding Collection through the lens of a dynamic contemporary design, this book features full-color, artfully arranged images of over one hundred paintings collected by museum founders Charles and Emma Frye. It includes works by renowned artists such as Franz von Stuck and Lillian Genth alongside longtime visitor favorites by Alexander Max Koester and Gabriel von Max, and many more. An illustrated introduction by Executive Director Jamilee Lacy considers how the Fryes’ personal approach to collecting and displaying works of art at the turn of the twentieth century provided a guiding ethos that continues to activate the museum today.
