This volume was published by the American Society of Marine Artists and the Frye Art Museum in association with the University of Washington Press in conjunction with the exhibition Contemporary American Marine Art: The Eleventh National Exhibition of the American Society of Marine Artists presented at the Frye Art Museum (July 4–September 14, 1997).
The Eleventh National Exhibition of the American Society of Marine Artists offers the opportunity to view contemporary works of American marine art. Varied in interpretation, technique and theme, the exhibition reflects a respect of marine art tradition. This publication reproduces one work by every artist represented in the exhibition accompanied by a statement provided by the artist.
