Rachel's intricate paper collage work is often confused as textile upon first glance. Inspired by this illusion, she has printed her quilt-like abstractions onto silk fabric to create wearable art. Rachel is interested in balancing pattern, color, and composition to showcase bold shapes and lines alongside minuscule detail. Her collage work has evolved over time, and she has used less found imagery in favor of integrating paper altered by her handiwork. Rachel is an art educator and visual artist currently based in Seattle, WA, her hometown. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Seattle University, and received her Master of Arts in Teaching from The Maryland Institute College of Art. For over ten years, Rachel has taught art to a variety of ages in schools, museums, art centers and more. Alongside teaching, she maintains an active studio practice.
