This catalogue accompanies the exhibition tele-journeys, organized by the MIT List Visual Arts Center, presented May 2-July 7, 2002. This exhibition included the works of nine video artists: Carlos Amorales, Mark Bain, Yael Bartana, Michael Blum, Sebastian Diaz Morales, Nabilia Irshaid, Runa Islam, Tomoko Take and Fiona Tan. This exhibition is a focus on young artists from around the world who are living and working away from their cultures of origin and who, like their predecessors of the 1960s and 1970s, are creating new ways to articulate responses to the ever-present problem of reconciling the global with the local.
This catalogue includes a forward by Joan Jonas, acknowledgement by Jane Farver, essay by Jens Hoffmann, 16 color illustrations of stills from the exhibition, biographies and bibliographies of the artists along with a checklist of the exhibition artworks.
