Proximity to Water
Proximity to Water
by Shannon Bodrogi
Proximity to Water is an amalgamation of many moments stitched together over an explosion of color. A mixture of plant and animal life - above, below and containing water.
The composition features the artist’s photographs, edited and arranged to flow together as one image. After painting the work’s base layer, the photos are hand printed as paper lithographs.
Paper lithography is a similar process to traditional lithography, using a photocopy in place of a stone. The transfer process uses relief ink and gum arabic applied to a photocopy and pressure against the plate to create an impression on paper or fabric.
Medium: paper lithography and flashe vinyl paint on muslin
Dimensions: 38 in. x 32 in.
